Pre-War Historic Apartment in Brooklyn, New York
The Brief
Bring a cozy vintage feeling and historic charm to a poorly maintained apartment in a pre-war walk-up building in Brooklyn, New York. The apartment was formerly home to the same person since the 1950s, and in the later years of her residence fell into disrepair. The next occupants wanted a true historic feel to the furnishings and to celebrate the architectural details.
the Design
Beautiful oriental rugs add a design foundation with elegant pattern.
Dark wood furniture in a traditional style contrasts with the cream walls and adds drama.
Vintage and antique accessories add charm and reflect the historic past of the building.
Soft white lace sheer curtains filter the light and provide privacy without darkening the room.
A cozy sectional couch brings an element of modern comfort for relaxing while watch tv or hanging out.
The tv is framed on either side by bookcases for an elegant solution that takes the emphasis off the tv alone.
