Soft-Glamor Home Office
The Brief
Transform a light-filled 2nd floor bedroom, with windows facing both south and east, into an elegant home office. Using a pastel feminine color palette, add drama with teal blue curtains and gold accents. Add several vintage finds from second-hand shops.
the Design
The walls are painted soft dusty rose with crisp white trim and ceiling.
Teal faux-silk dupioni curtains with cream tasseled tiebacks frame the window and add dramatic floor-to-ceiling blocks of color.
A custom pale green modified chesterfield provides an elegant seating area with white and black and white tweed throw pillows.
An Aubusson style rug with a pastel color scheme of pinks, blues, greens, and gold tones provides a foundation for the colors throughout the rest of the room.
Floor to ceiling Ikea white bookcases have simple understated elegance.
The gold metal of the glass and gold drinks table, reading lamp behind the sofa and chandelier add glamour to the design.
A gold framed original painting - rescued from a second-hand store compliments another original work art commissioned by the Canadian abstract artist - Maryam Ebrahimi which hangs beside the desk.
The desk is also a vintage piece, this time restored and given a new lease on life with a custom designed tabletop to replace the original which was beyond salvaging.
